What a fun-looking exhibit! Thank you for the thorough look and explanations of camp, a word fraught with misunderstanding (of course, I'm thinking of the Met Gala "Camp" theme that few really got right).

It was too complicated. Themes need to be easier, sadly.

A wonderful article - it makes me miss being in London very much but evokes the exhibition so clearly I can almost see it. Thank you!

I find Grayson Perry utterly compelling. I really enjoyed The Descent of Man and when I was working at the British Council a few years ago, they funded a documentary he was doing exploring class in Britain, it was fascinating.

I see this exhibit has been compiled into a book, Delusions of Grandeur, which would be a decent alternative I suppose for those of us who can't make it to the actual exhibition.

I admire how his confidence in who he is, we don’t really notice how radical it is, his ‘secrets’ are always out on full display. My 88 year old grandma was telling me about him and the fact of his cross dressing was perhaps third on the list of things she mentioned about him. The fact she knew him at all was cool, then the fact she loved his work even better!

His book on masculinity was fabulous too! I wonder if the most extreme forms of masculinity are actually camp without knowing it? What do you think?

He is unapologetically himself, and also a very talented artist and articulate thinker. I love his work.

Sontag would argue that any kind of affectionate, self-conscious performance is Camp. Hyper masculinity certainly has the potential for Campness!
